Learning Materials

The learning materials serve as a form of scaffolding to support learners (typical and special needs, depending on age group) by literally breaking down the learning process into smaller units.

These visual and tactile learning materials can be touched, manipulated and moved from place to place. Thus these learning aids can transform abstract learning into a multi-sensory experience, which appeal to learners with visual, tactile and kinaesthetic learning preferences.

Although these learning materials are particularly useful for learners with special needs, some typical learners may also benefit from some of these learning aids.

Early Learning Series

The Early Learning Series products are designed for emerging learners who have just entered the universe of language and numbers. The products in this series may also be used to initiate young learners into literacy and numeracy with tactile learning materials for spelling and counting.

Please note that each product can be further customised to meet your child’s needs. Costs will be determined based on the materials developed.

Intermediate Learning Series

The Intermediate Learning Series products are designed for learners (aged five years and above) who have advanced beyond the emergence level to have a basic command of numbers and words. Learners will be challenged to apply their mathematical knowledge through the manipulation of “money”. For literacy, learners will begin to delve into the different parts of language and learn to write in sentences.

Please note that each product can be further customised to meet your child’s needs. Costs will be determined based on the materials developed.

The Words, Pictures, Story! (WPS!) Customised Variations

For Schools

The WPS! Customised Variations series is tailored to the specific needs of your school and your student population. I will work together with your heads of department and teachers to identify the desired learning objectives and create customised WPS! story templates and accompanying workbooks.

The original WPS! writing template can also be transformed into these variations:

  • WPS! – MATHEMATICS: These storywriting templates incorporate mathematical computations into a storyline, thus situating mathematical concepts within a story context. This approach can help students to not only combine their literacy learning with numeracy, but also highlight the relevance and meaning of math in familiar or interesting contexts.
  • WPS! – LIFE STORIES: These storywriting templates contain stories that emphasis the use of lifeskills in various types of daily-life environments. They can serve as scripts to train special needs learners (of different ages) to cope with life situations appropriate to their age and functioning levels.
  • WPS! – ADULT ENGLISH LEARNING: Based on the WPS! principles for building literacy, these storywriting templates can be transformed into scripts to practise dialogue and writing exercises to help adult learners learning English as a foreign language.

For Families

As I have originally created the WPS! templates and workbooks as part of my homeschooling programme for Sebastien, my autistic son, they are ideal for the home setting.

Homeschoolers of children with special needs and parents who are looking for supplementary learning materials for their typical children of various functioning levels and ages will appreciate the significance of having customised materials to meet the distinctive needs of their children.

We will work with the caregivers to produce the WPS! templates and accompanying workbooks to match the interests and functioning levels of the children, as well as your budget.
